Point-of-Purchase Case Study: The Quick Grip Display Bracket
Application
A point-of-purchase display manufacturer received a contract to provide in-store
signage brackets for a major national retailer. The project specifications
called for brackets that would attach to various existing store fixtures.
Customer Challenge
The display manufacturer came to Intek with an existing design that was composed
of several injection-molded plastic parts. It required on-site assembly, was
not easily adaptable to multiple shelving post thicknesses and was time-consuming
to install.
Intek Plastics' Custom Solution
An Intek engineer worked with the display manufacturer to redesign the signage
bracket. The improved design incorporates a remarkably simple friction-fit clamp
in place of the original thumb screw device. The clamp profile is extruded from
a material with the proper rigidity to grip tightly to store shelving. The clamping
surfaces feature multiple co-extruded barbs that impart just the right friction
properties to allow the brackets to be quickly installed and removed.
Customer Result
By eliminating the multi-piece clamp and thumb screws, Intek’s one-piece
design gives the advantage of having no moving parts to break or become misplaced.
More importantly, the one-piece design can be installed and removed in less time
than the original thumb screw design. The simplicity and efficiency gained will
be multiplied in over 1,200 stores across the nation.
